I am.... Katrina Garnett, more commonly known as Beanie.

I've been…. working in sales support for a business intelligence software company and prior to this working as a financial contractor. I graduated with a Bsc (Hons) in Sport Coaching and Physical Education, and whilst at University I rowed competitively at a High Performance Centre. I have also participated in triathlons, and completed the Virgin London Marathon in an eight foot killer whale fancy dress costume, raising more than £4,500 for the Born Free Foundation.

Women Ahead... gives the opportunity to facilitate change. Rectifying gender inequality is moving today’s society in the right direction, and Women Ahead have been able to increase the pace of this change within the world of sport and business. My own passion for sport, and my admiration of talented individuals that thrive under opportunity, drives my work at Women Ahead and motivates me to achieve the goals that lie ahead.

I bring....determination. I have seen the challenges that gender inequality poses in society and, inspired by Emma Watson's 'He for She' speech for UN Women ("If not me, who? If not now, when?”) I am determined to use and develop my skills and passion to make a difference.
