Redefining success for entrepreneurs in 2021
On the 21st of January, 11am-12pm GMT, Moving Ahead in collaboration with NatWest shone a light on entrepreneurs who have built strong and powerful networks. We know from the Advancing Female Entrepreneurship research report that a major barrier for female entrepreneurs is a lack of a professional network, and we want to start pioneering conversations to change this.
We heard from policymakers, business leaders, inspiring entrepreneurs, female founders and thought leaders, including: Alison Rose, CEO NatWest Group and author of the Rose Review; Julie Baker, Head of Enterprise and Climate Engagement at NatWest Group; Aduke Onafowokan, Founder of Sister Sister Network, entrepreneur and leadership and diversity coach; Fiona Grayson, Founder of She Can She Did, the UK’s first benefits platform for all female business owners; and Dr Cath Bishop, Olympian and former diplomat, leadership expert and author of The Long Win.
Thank you to our panel of fantastic speakers.

Our research..
This report summarises the key findings of research commissioned by Moving Ahead into the barriers that hold women back from entrepreneurship and the interventions that can help them succeed. Our in-depth surveys and interviews have created a detailed picture of women’s needs and concerns in London, Paris and Frankfurt/Berlin.
The research was carried out between November 2019 and February 2020. Below are some of the findings from the research.
Our research builds on the work of the Alison Rose Review (March 2019). Our aim was to extend our understanding of female entrepreneurship beyond the UK and London to other major European cities. The research combined detailed data analysis with in-depth surveys and interviews that would shed light on the experiences and motivations of women in each city.
